Why is it the best

1.

When you're cheering, you're there to get the crowd excited and show its support for the team. Crowd participation cheers get to the very heart of why cheerleaders do what they do, so it's easy to see why they're among the best cheerleading cheers. Some cheerleaders like to get the crowd shouting, with cheers like, "We say let's go. You say Wildcats." Others try to encourage movement, with directions to stand up or clap.

2.

There's something about cheerleading cheers that lends itself to spelling out words. You don't just tell the team to "be aggressive," it's, "Be aggressive. B-E aggressive." Spelling can lengthen words to fit a chant, and it can add to the rhythm of a cheer. Spelling also offers a great opportunity for encouraging crowd participation by asking the fans in the stands to shout out letters as they are spelled, like with the classic, "Give me a D!" cheers.

3.

Of course your team is great, so why not tell everyone? Cheers including "we’re number one" and "we're the best" are great for inspiring the fans to get behind the team. Of course, the other team's chances for losing the game are fair game, too. However, remember the rules of good sportsmanship and make sure not to cross the line into mean-spirited taunting.

4.

Offense and defense cheers can give the team a quick burst of confidence and inspiration. Chants like "Defense, defense, get that ball!" are short and to the point, making them easy to add to your cheer arsenal.

5.

It's common to see cheerleaders in the stands when there's a football or basketball game going on, but what about hockey or lacrosse? Ms. Pineapple's Cheer Page offers cheers for volleyball, hockey, and wrestling, and the usual talk of grabbing the ball is replaced with encouragements to "P-I-N your M-A-N" and "bump, set, spike." These cheers are among the best cheerleading cheers for their uniqueness and their sense of fair play in giving all sports equal encouragement.
