In the words of D. H. Lawrence, “Ripe figs won’t keep.” And the solution for ripe figs? Cocktails, obviously.
Even if you don’t have fresh figs on hand, you can still take a bite into the jammy, sweet, and earthy fig flavors with nothing more than a sip of a fig cocktail. Don’t nibble the glass, though. Save those nibbles for your next ripe fig and savor your sips on these cocktails.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces bourbon
- ¾ ounce fig simple syrup
- 2-3 dashes orange bitters
- 1-2 dashes aromatic bitters
- Ice
- Orange peel and cocktail cherry for garnish
Instructions
- In a mixing glass, add ice, bourbon, fig simple syrup, and bitters.
- Stir rapidly to chill.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with an orange peel and cocktail cherry.
Ingredients
- 1½ ounces gin
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ¾ ounce fig jam
- ½ ounce honey syrup
- Ice
- ¾ ounce prosecco to top off
- Lemon wheel for garnish, optional

- Chill a coupe glass.
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice, gin, lemon juice, fig jam, and honey syrup.
- Shake vigorously to dissolve jam.
- Double strain into the chilled glass.
- Top off with prosecco.

- 2 ounces silver tequila or mezcal
- 1 ounce orange liqueur
- 1 ounce fig syrup
- ½ ounce freshly squeezed orange juice

- To prepare rim, rub the rim of the glass with the lime wedge.
- With the sugar on a saucer, dip either half or the entire rim of the glass in the sugar to coat.
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice, silver tequila, orange liqueur, fig syrup, and orange juice.
- Shake to chill.
- Strain into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
