Make no mistake, cachaça is quite different from rum. A result of fermenting sugarcane juice, cachaça is as sweet by any of its other names, caninha or pinga included. While the nickname Brazilian rum isn't totally off base, cachaça is deserving of its own category. That means that cachaça cocktails are in a league of their own. A delicious league.
Ingredients
- 4 lime wedges
- ¼ ounce simple syrup
- 2 ounces cachaça
- Crushed ice
- Lime wheel for garnish
Instructions
- In a rocks glass, muddle lime wedges and simple syrup.
- Fill with crushed ice.
- Add cachaça.
- Stir briefly to mix.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
Ingredients
- 2 ounces cachaça
- 1 ounce passion fruit syrup
- ¾ ounce coconut milk
- ½ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- Ice
- Pineapple wedge, cherry, and grated nutmeg for garnish
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker, add ice, cachaça, passion fruit syrup, coconut milk, and lime juice.
- Shake to chill.
- Strain into a cocktail glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with a pineapple wedge, cherry, and grated nutmeg.

- ½ ounce sweet vermouth
- ½ ounce Cynar
- 2-3 dashes grapefruit bitters
- Ice
- Orange peel for garnish

- In a rocks glass, add ice, cachaça, sweet vermouth, Cynar, and bitters.
- Stir rapidly to chill.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Garnish with an orange peel.

- 1-2 dashes aromatic bitters
- Ice
- Ginger beer to top off
- Lime wheel and ginger peel for garnish

- 1-2 fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 6-10 fresh blueberries
- 4-8 fresh raspberries
- 2 ounces cachaça
- ¾ ounce simple syrup
- Crushed ice
- Mint sprig for garnish

- Fill with crushed ice.
- Add cachaça.
- Stir briefly to mix.
- Garnish with a mint sprig.

- 1 ounce cachaça
- ¾ ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- ½ ounce simple syrup
- Ice

- Club soda to top off
- Blood orange wheel and mint sprig for garnish

- In a cocktail shaker, add ice, cachaça, pineapple juice, grenadine, and lemon juice.
- Shake to chill.
- Strain into a cocktail glass or wine glass over fresh ice.
- Top off with club soda.
- Garnish with a blood orange wheel and mint sprig.
